MICHAEL MITCHINER TITLES

Dr. Mitchiner of Croydon, Surrey, UK is one of the most prolific authors on the coinage of India, with titles on Islamic and Southeast Asian numismatics as well. His three volume Oriental Coins and their Values series is a standard in the field. Nearly all of his books are in print and currently most titles are in stock. I am sorry to report that the Ancient & Classical World volume is out of print and likely will not be reprinted for years, if at all, though I sometimes have a copy in stock. Listings in blue are standard references or important generalized works for their category. I also buy all numismatic literature.

NEWAncient Trade and Early Coinage.    Discusses the coinage of each region (Greece through Japan) from its origins, in light of trade, climate changes & population movements. Many series reclassified and redated, essentially updating his three-volume OC&V series published in the late 1970s. About 6000 coins catalogued with photo, valuations. Most of Vol. 1 deals with Mediterranean through Persian series, while Vol. 2 is India (punchmarks) and eastward.   See Spink's REVIEW.   2 volumes, 1420p, hc, 2004, List £150265.00
