| Krause, C & Mishler, C. | Standard Catalog of World Coins This series of by-century volumes is currently the best reference for Mughal. It is an expensive series if you are looking only for India listings, but cheaper outdated editions are generally adequate for Mughal listings. The pre-1600 coinage of Akbar is convered only in Bruce, Deyell, Rhodes & Spengler's 1981 Standard Guide to South Asian Coins and Paper since 1556, now somewhat out of date, and out of print. For later Akbar through Aurangzeb see SCWC 17th Century, 1st - current 3rd Eds. with photo, extensive date listings, and a clear format. The last dates of regular Aurangzeb types nearly through the end of the series are in SCWC 18th Century, but the listings in the current 3rd Ed. are nearly unusable, so earlier Eds. are preferred. For the last issues of Shah Alam II, the few Delhi issues of later rulers, and the many transitional coinages listed under Princely States, see SCWC 19th Century, current 4th or earlier editions. | ||
